Repeal of Bill 28 – Huge Victory for all Who Fought for Rights and Freedoms in Ontario

TORONTO — Noa Mendelsohn Aviv, Executive Director of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, made the following statement today;
The Canadian Civil Liberties Association is delighted the Ontario government has backed down and will repeal bill 28.
The notwithstanding clause is a dangerous threat to rights and freedoms and was never meant to be used in contract negotiations.
This should serve as a warning to all governments that people in Canada cherish our freedoms, our civil liberties, and our human rights – and we will fight to defend them.
