CCLA REACTS TO FORMER OTTAWA POLICE CHIEF PETER SLOLY’S COMMENTS ON INVOCATION OF THE EMERGENCIES ACT
TORONTO — Noa Mendelsohn Aviv, Executive Director and General Counsel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, made the following statement:
Today, former Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly stated that he did not ask the federal government to invoke the national Emergencies Act, stating “I did not make that request, I’m not aware of anybody else in the Ottawa Police Service who did.” This fact has also been confirmed by other senior officers.
