CCLA Intervening to Protect Access to Justice

On June 13, 2022, the CCLA will be intervening at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in the case of Nell Toussaint v Attorney General of Canada. The CCLA’s intervention is concerned not only with access to healthcare for people in Canada with uncertain or precarious immigration status, but also with access to justice. In particular, CCLA is intervening to assist the Court in assessing a motion to strike a rights-based legal claim and urging consideration of the access to justice implications of an early dismissal.
